Rice Amidst the Cloud: Chee Wang Ng in New Zealand

Rice Amidst the Cloud: Chee Wang Ng 雲中之飯 - 吳子雲 will be held at the Dunedin School of Art - the oldest art school in New Zealand curated by Peter Stupples for the Art & Food Symposium hosted by Dunedin School of Art, Culinary Arts at Otago Polytechnic, University of Otago's Food Science Department and Centre for Sustainability. This exhibition is made possible with a grant from the Asia New Zealand Foundation and with financial and in-kind sponsorship from the Otago Community Trust, Two Sisters Winery, Regent Theatre, Asian American/Asian Research Institute, Ministry of Tourism Malaysia, and kind supporters.

Ng will deliver his presentation to the symposium via live telecasting from AAARI office in Manhattan, NY follows by a Q&A session.

The proceedings from the Art & Food Symposium will be published in England in 2013.

Editor of Turbulences Video (video art and Digital Culture quarterly magazine), curator for the Galerie de lʼart du temps (Time based arts gallery) for SESC Arts Showcase 2012, IMAGEM-CONTATO: mostra de imagem em movimento (TACTILE IMAGE: a moving images showcase) to be shown at various SESC venues through out the city of São Paulo, Brazil and will also be broadcasted by SESCTV. SESC Foundation is one of Brazil biggest non-profit cultural institution with over 30 locations. The program includes mini-retrospectives by the pioneers video artists Nam June Paik, Norman McLaren, Zbigniew Rybczynski, Gunvor Nelson, Stan Brakhage and Jan Švankmajer with a selection of works by Bill Viola, Gary Hill and Pipilotti Rist to recent works by celebrated and emerging contemporary artists from around the world.

The Arts Converge: Contemporary Art & Asian Musical Traditions

The video 108 Global Rice Bowls 壹佰零捌個全球化飯碗 together with the corresponding 108 bowls as installation had been chosen by Guest Curator and Associate Professor of Art History, Dr. Helen M. Nagata of Northern Illinois University for The Arts Converge: Contemporary Art and Asian Musical Traditions at NIU's Jack Olson Gallery in celebrating the interactions between cultural traditions and individual modern artist, between music and the visual arts of contemporary artists' reactions to Asian traditional music sounds and cultural soundscapes with the Elizabeth Allen Visiting Lectures in Art History series as the related programing of the exhibition.

The exhibition is co-sponsored by Elizabeth A. Plotnik Fund of the College of Visual and Performing Arts, Harry D. Castle Memorial Fund, the School of Art Visiting Artists and Scholars program. the Elizabeth Allen Lecture Series sponsored by the Division of Art History, and a Venture Grant received for the project, "Celebrating Creativity: Asian/Asian-American Identities"

Much appreciations goes to Peter Van Ael, Gallery Coordinator for the custom shelves made for the in situ mixed media installation and the beautiful brochure.

Lexington Art League - Right Here Over There

108 Global Rice Bowls 壹佰零捌個全球化飯碗 is selected by Becky Alley, the Exhibition and Programs Director of Lexington Art League for their Right Here Over There exhibition. Alley said, "I can truthfully say that this has been one of the most difficult selection processes I have ever experienced. We received over 1,500 works for consideration by 301 artists from around the world. In the end I selected 55 works by 43 artists." LAL is central Kentucky's oldest and the largest visual art organization, and this exhibition will be held at the Loudoun House which is listed with the National Register of Historic Places.
