The capitalistic society of the "99¢ store" has taken to a global lever of "Retail therapy" to consumer addiction - "Oniomania" or compulsive shopping disorder.
From casual buying of daily essential to plastic kitsch merchandise that often brings a smile. Never a trivial, granted that the legendary May 1626 purchase of the "Island of Manhattes," currently known as Manhattan by Peter Minuit for the Dutch West India Company in exchange for the supposedly 60 Dutch guilders (US$24) worth of beads, buttons, and trinkets. These bright colorful "jewels" encrust the oversize bowl of rice in spelling out "Made in China" as its badge of pride and honor.
